Bio-identical hormone optimization
Bio-identical hormone therapy (BHRT) is an age management strategy, which is utilized by health optimization physicians. Essentially, this is a therapy which provides replacement of those hormones, which have declined as the result of the aging process.
At Medify, our doctors are highly skilled in the interpretation and utilization of BHRT. We use a combination of patient symptoms, blood tests, and in certain cases, urine tests, to understand the hormone cascade, and initiate a safe and effective BHRT regimen for those patients who require this.
The methods of BHRT administration for men includes topical creams, oral formulations, intramuscular injections, and pellet therapy.
The main tenets of BHRT are that:
One must use only hormone that is identical to that produced by your own body.
The case is guided by a combination of health questions, and lab biomarkers.

Hormone pellet therapy
The newest and most effective form of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) available today is pellet therapy.
Pellet therapy has been used in Europe and USA for decades, and has only recently made its way to Canada.
It involves the surgical insertion of hormone pellets under the skin, which is performed as a sterile procedure in the office. These pellets remain in the area for 3-5 months, and slowly release testosterone, in relation to blood flow through across the pellets.
The main advantage of this therapy is convenience, steady state levels, and ease of monitoring. Most of our patients now choose pellet therapy, since it is such an advancement from prior methods.
